Elisa Chand has a diverse background as a Physician Assistant, Clinical Dietitian, and Research & Scholarship Lead at the University of Manitoba's Department of Family Medicine. This unique combination of roles has provided her with years of expertise in patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the implementation of evidence-based practices. As a graduate of the inaugural class of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) at the University of Manitoba, Elisa has spent over a decade in Thoracic Surgery, managing acute surgical patients, contributing to research, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. Throughout her clinical career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to education through her contributions to the MPAS program, including curricular development, teaching, and mentoring Physician Assistant learners. In her current faculty role as Research & Scholarship Lead, Elisa is driving initiatives to establish a foundation for PA-led research and enhance scholarly productivity, further advancing the Physician Assistant profession. Elisa's TUTOR project will explore the factors influencing the integration of physician assistants into primary healthcare as a strategic approach to addressing the primary healthcare crisis.
